Lois Cuppett Obituary

Lois May Shoemaker Cuppett, 87, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2020, at Cornerstone Hospice in Tavares. She was born on June 3, 1932 in Takoma Park, Maryland. She graduated from Bladensburg High School where she met Thomas Cuppett, who became the love of her life. They were married for 64 years, until he passed away in 2016. She spent most of her life raising their girls, Lisa (Bill) Waterman and Cindy Merritt. She worked as a secretary at NASA when the family moved to Maryland so that Tom could return to school. She was also a secretary at several schools in Ft. Lauderdale. She and Tom moved to Lake County, where they eventually both retired and moved to Lake Port Square. They were always very active in church and helped start Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Eustis. Lois worked as a secretary there for a number of years. She was moved to Hospice in February, 2020, where she passed away peacefully in her sleep. She is survived by her daughters, 5 grandchildren: Jessica, Sarah, David, Amy, and Laura; 5 great grandchildren: Hunter, Bella, Ryann, Jadon, Asher, and Owen; and her sister Edna, of Ocala. A memorial service will be held at the Beyer’s Funeral Home on Sunday, March 1 at 4:00 pm followed by a reception at First Baptist Church of Umatilla. Online condolences may be made to the family at beyersfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, donations to Cornerstone Hospice of Tavares would be a blessing to us. Arrangements entrusted to Beyers Funeral Home, Umatilla, Florida.
