Dyron Patrick Nix Obituary

Dyron Patrick Nix was born on February 11, 1967 in Meridian, Mississippi to George and Barbara Nix.

After graduating from Fort Walton Beach High School (FL), Dyron went on to the University of Tennessee (Knoxville) where he was a stand-out basketball player. Dyron received many accolades as a member of the University of Tennessee's Basketball team. His 1,877 career points are eight highest in University of Tennessee Basketball history. Following his time at Tennessee, Dyron was drafted in the 1989 NBA draft by the Charlotte Hornets. A draft-day trade led him to the Indiana Pacers where he played for one season. He later went on to play professional basketball in Europe for eleven years.

Dyron met and married Shawn Nix and the two were blessed with two children; Cree and Dyron Nix Jr.

Dyron was known for his great sense of humor. He loved to dress and was known to be quite fashionable. Dyron stayed up on all of the current music, often times sharing his musical tastes with his loving children. He also enjoyed cooking various dishes from around the world.

Dyron was very special to all of those who knew and loved him. He will truly be missed by all.

Celebration of Life Services will be held Thursday, December 19, 2013, 11:00 AM at Destiny Metropolitan Worship Church, 1775 Water Place, Atlanta, GA 30339. Dr. Bryan E. Crute, Pastor. Interment Peachtree Memorial Park. Public Viewing will be held Thursday morning at the church from 10:00 AM until the hour of service.
