James Perry Obituary

Mr. James William Perry, 68, of Rome, formerly of Cartersville, died Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Floyd Medical Center. A native of Bartow County, born October 31, 1946, he was the son of the late Vernon Lewis Perry and Sara Eleanor McCeary Perry. Mr. Perry retired from the Bartow County Water Department with 16 years of service. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United State Army. James sang with the group Southern Gospel for more than 20 years. He loved sports and coached recreation baseball and football teams in Cartersville for many years. Survivors include his wife, Thelma Perry of Cartersville; his children, Jamie Mauldin (David) of Cartersville, Michael Perry (Ansley) of Acworth and Justin Perry (Katie) of Cartersville; his grandchildren, Victoria Huskins, Jennifer Perry, Phoebe Perry, Cody Mauldin, Kimmie Fountain, Isabelle Perry and Will Perry; his three great-grandchildren; and special friends, Danny Mauldin and Joyce Hartness. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, April 26, 2015 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
