Phillip Wayne Chapman Obituary

Rev. Phillip Wayne Chapman, 68, of Cartersville passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Redmond Regional Medical Center. Born on January 21, 1952 he was the son of the late Clyde A. Chapman and Catherine Roberson Chapman. Survivors include his wife Deborah Chapman; his daughters, Misty Chapman Thompson, Rachel Chapman Curtis; his special granddaughter, Kaylan Wisniewski (Matthew); his grandchildren, Cain Knox (Mykaela), Carly Ervin (Steven), Brenton Hartsfield, Andrew Curtis; his great-grandchildren, Mason Wisniewski, Naomi Knox, Ella (Rae-Rae) Wisniewski; his brother, Gary Chapman (Sharon); his sister, Lynda Willis (Charles); many nieces and nephews and a host of special fishing buddies. Also left behind is Boo Boo Kitty, his companion and squirrel hunting partner, who misses him terribly. Phillip was a man of faith and loved the Lord. He was a licensed and ordained Baptist minister and has served as a pastor. At the beginning of his ministry he had guidance and support from the best. Reverend Fred Lee stood by him all the way. He had hoped to be part of his mentor’s funeral, but God had other plans. A longtime employee of Dan River Carpets, later working at Bartow county Schools until retirement. He loved his daughters, grandchildren and Greats. They brought him such joy and they adored him back. They were taught to fish and play pool shortly after birth. To say his passion in life was fishing was an understatement. He started young and enjoyed it more each day. He treasured the friendships and the time his buddies spent with him. Although outliving many of his buddies, he leaves behind a special group. Many thanks for the joy you brought him. In his younger years, he was an avid deer hunter. He loved high school football and if the stadium lights were on, his family watched a game- never caring who was playing. He was an Alabama fan, and always pulled for Clemson, except against his ROLL TIDE. He loved NASCAR until the departure of Tony Stewart. He enjoyed nature- feeding and watching birds, especially hummingbirds. A Graveside service for family will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, with Reverend Ricky Allen and Reverend Fred R. Lee officiating. A service in celebration of Phillip including friends will be held at a later date. Serving as pallbearers will be Cain Knox, Brent Hartsfield, Andrew Curtis, Matthew Wisniewski, Steven Ervin and Ricky Chastain. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Keith Chastain and Chad Lewis (in heart). In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to your favorite charity or Bert’s big Adventure benefiting handicapped children at bertsbigadventure.org Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services is honored to serve the family of Rev.
