Allen Stephen Dean, Sr., age 72 of Clarkesville, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at the Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta following an extended illness. Born in Detroit, Michigan on May 06, 1942, he was a son of the late Herman Aubrey and Edna Eloise Nabors Dean. Mr. Dean was retired from General Motors Co. after many years of service and worked part-time in Helen, Georgia for Innsbruck Resort & Golf Club. He was a very active member of the Providence Baptist Church in the Batesville Community, serving on several pastor search committees, as an usher, and a door greeter. Mr. Dean was also an avid golfer, a Georgia Tech fan, and enjoyed NASCAR racing. Survivors include his loving wife of 27 years, Martha Mikell Dean, Clarkesville, GA; sons & daughters-in-law, Allen Stephen Dean, Jr. (Melissa), Stockbridge, GA; Randall Brian Dean (Shawn), Mansfield, GA; step-son & wife, Tony Futch (Loretta), Cleveland, GA; grandchildren, Amanda Sockwell (Adam), Atlanta, GA; Rachael Meaders (B.J.), Annie Futch, Jesse Futch, all of Cleveland, GA; Grayson Danes, Evan Danes, both of Mansfield, GA; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, & friends. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 02, 2014 at Providence Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Doster officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
