Amos King Obituary

Amos King, age 87 of Alto, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Habersham Medical Center. Born in Habersham County on October 23, 1926, he was a son of the late Peter L. King and Recie Martin King. Mr. King was a logger and of the Christian faith. He was a hard worker who enjoyed his animals and gardening. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Reece Lee King; brothers, Lem, Edward, and Allen King. Surviving are loving wife, Henrietta Wiley King of Alto; daughters, Freenon “Sara” Canup of Young Harris and Ann Youngblood of Alto; sons, Harlon King of Suches, Baxter King, Dexter King, and Robert King all of Alto; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brother, Max King of Alto; sisters, Gervis Taylor of Alto and Elizabeth Grier of Alto. Funeral services are 2:00 pm Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Pastor John Graham and Rev. Jerry Luke officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion United Methodist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8 pm on Monday.
