Barbara Ann Gibson Anderson

Barbara Ann Gibson Anderson, age 84 of Cornelia, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021. Born in Rabun County, Georgia on May 20, 1936 she was a daughter of the late James Carl Gibson and Mary Louise McDowell Gibson. Mrs. Anderson retired from Johnson & Johnson, formerly Chicopee Manufacturing, after 42 years of service. Mrs. Anderson was a member and former deacon of the First Presbyterian Church of Cornelia, the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post #7720, and the Johnson and Johnson Retiree Association. She enjoyed reading, cooking and was well known for her Red Velvet and Italian Cream cakes. Mrs. Anderson was a loving mother, companion, Mema, sister and friend. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Ezekiel Mack “Zeke” Anderson, Jr.; brother, Clyde Gibson; sister, Evelyn Gibson. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Clete & Mysti Anderson of Mt. Airy; daughter and fiancé, Kathy Anderson & Mark Simmons of Cornelia; loving companion, Claude Hall; grandchildren, Amanda Stewart and her husband, Zane, Kayla Anderson & fiancé, Caleb Tyre, Joshua Shipp, Jared Shipp, Kyndal Anderson and Sebastion Dodd; great-grandchildren, Benjamin Stewart, William Stewart and Connor Stewart and Elijah Westmoreland ; brother and sister-in-law, Larry Harold “Bud” & Rosemary Gibson of Connecticut; sister and brother-in-law, Delores “Boots” & Dale Medford of Waynesville, North Carolina; several nieces, nephews, other family and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3 pm, Sunday April 11, 2021 at the First Presbyterian Church of Cornelia with Rev. Andy Chambers officiating. Services will be live streamed on the First Presbyterian Church of Cornelia’s Facebook page for those not able to attend. For those in attendance, masks are required in the church. A private interment will be held at Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at the funeral home. Those in attendance are asked to please adhere to the public health and social distancing guidelines regarding COVID-19.
