Benny Slaton

Benny Slaton, age 75 of Baldwin, passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2020. Born on April 21, 1945, in Toccoa, Georgia, he was a son of the late Henry Ben and Dollie Crisp Slaton. Mr. Slaton was a Mason and a member of Mountain View Baptist Church in Baldwin. He was a retired truck driver with L.A.D. Trucking. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Linda Loudermilk Slaton; sons, Andrew “Andy” Slaton and Clinton Loudermilk; sisters, Barbara Jean Bowman, Esther Brady and Faye Simmons. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Angela Kay Taylor (Chris) of Baldwin, Amy Leigh Watson (David) and Michelle Loudermilk Farmer (Dusty) all of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Drew Cantrell, Alex Cantrell, Ben Slaton, Dalton Watson, Kayleigh Watson, Taylar Medders and Emilee Sullens; great grandchildren, Tucker Hill, Ella Hill and Westen Cantrell; brother and sister-in-law, Sam and Judy Slaton of Hiawassee; sister, Lynn Slaton Tench of Alto; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services are 3 pm on Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Mountain View Baptist Church, 269 Mountain View Road, Baldwin, GA 30511, with Rev. Scott Slaton, Rev. Jamie Harvey and Rev. Chad Parker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 pm until the service hour on Sunday at the church. The service will streamed live on the McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Facebook page. Those in attendance are asked to please adhere to the public health and social distancing guidelines regarding COVID-19.
