Bobbie Nix Whitlock

Bobbie Nix Whitlock, age 99, of Demorest, passed away Friday, April 18, 2014 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Born on August 12, 1914, in Rabun County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Robert M. Nix and Elizabeth Martin Nix. She was a homemaker and a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church. She was an avid reader who enjoyed puzzles, flowers and gardening. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Whitlock was also preceded in death by her husband, Julius “Buck” Whitlock; son, Wilton Whitlock; brother, Carl Nix; sisters, Magnolia Carlan, Roselie Church, Mildred Williams and Lucille Maney. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Martha and Andrew Eller of Demorest and Sharon and David Baskin of Cornelia; grandchildren, Andy Eller, Joey Eller, Jill Moore (Jared) and Kim Kaminski (Tim); great grandchildren, Tanner and Bhrett Kaminski. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 pm on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Mickey Umbehant officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery in Banks County. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Monday at the funeral home. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, Attn. Carl Clough, Church Treasurer, 2405 Highway 51, Lula, Georgia 30554.
