Calvin Crocker

Calvin S. Crocker, age 92 of Lula, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at his residence. Born on May 11, 1919, he was a son of the late James Dayton and Ollie Parker Crocker. Mr. Crocker was a member of Mt. Sinai Congregational Holiness Church and was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills. He was a life-long resident of Banks County and fought on the front lines in Germany during WWII Army. Mr. Crocker was an evangelist who enjoyed reading his Bible, fellowshipping with others and gardening. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Stanley Wayne Crocker; sisters, Mary Tims, Lanora Groover, Winnie Crocker; brothers, Coy Lee Crocker and Laster Crocker. Survivors include wife, Rachel Elizabeth Sartin Crocker of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Swayne and Willie Mae Crocker of Cornelia and Ronnie and Nancy Crocker of Cornelia; daughters and sons-in-law, Evalene and Lewis Davidson, Brenda and Arthur Arrowood, Magalene and Samuel Pruitt; daughter-in-law, Jeanette Duncan Crocker of Lula; sister, Cara Mae Edison of Dacula; 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Thursday, January 12, 2012 at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Rev. Deron Crocker, Rev. Tracy Davidson, and Rev. Todd Pruitt officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Sinai Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery with full military honors provided by the American Legion Post #84, Rabun County DAV Chapter #15 and Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Wednesday. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center, 2150 Limestone Parkway; Suite 222, Gainesville, GA 30501.
