CHAPELLA LEE MURPHY FERGUSON, age 77 of the Pea Ridge Community, Cornelia, Georgia passed away on Thursday, July 06, 2017. Born in Cornelia, Georgia on December 21, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Howard Watson Murphy & Monteen Suggs Murphy. Mrs. Ferguson was a homemaker and also worked for many years on the family farm. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Glenn Murphy and brothers-in-law, Glen Nix and Joe Armour. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, William Grady “Bill” Ferguson, daughters and son-in-law, Tammy & Steve Forrester, Tonya Ferguson Carey, all of Cornelia, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Fellis & Johnny Mize, Leona Armour, Audrey Erwin & Tony Shirley, all of Cornelia, GA; grandchildren, Amber & William Moore of Madison, GA; Ashley & Zach Balest of Atlanta, GA; Chloe Cantrell, Benjamin Cantrell, both of Cornelia, GA; Sam Carey of Commerce, GA; great-granddaughter, Phoebe Moore of Madison, GA; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, & friends. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 08, 2017 from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris York officiating. Interment will follow in New Hope Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Anthony Shore officiating at the graveside. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 until 7 p.m. on Friday.
