Charles Heaton

Charles William Heaton, age 76 of Demorest, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at his residence. Born March 16, 1937 in Habersham County, he was the son of the late Marion and Alice Bohannon Heaton. Mr. Heaton was a loyal employee of Schnadig Corporation and retired after 43 years of service and was a dedicated member of Demorest Church of God. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed collecting old photos of his hometown of Demorest and surrounding areas. Mr. Heaton was a devoted and loving husband of 54 years and a wonderful and loving daddy, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a friend to all who knew him. In addition to his parents, Mr. Heaton was preceded in death by his son, Charles Jeffery Heaton. Survivors include wife, Eunice Free Heaton of Demorest; daughter and son-in-law, Kay & Dennis Norton of Mt. Airy; grandsons, Doug Norton and Brandon Norton of Mt. Airy; great-grandchildren, Emily, Amber, Raelynn & Allen Norton and Stormy, Jeffery, Isaac, Logan and Zoe Norton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bert & Linda Heaton of Bethlehem and Grady & Martha Heaton of Demorest; special aunt, Betty Wilson of Clarkesville. Funeral services are 2:00 pm Thursday, April 18, 2013, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Darvin Slaton and Rev. Mitch Evans officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3-5 & 7-9 pm Wednesday. McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home of Cornelia (706/778-8668) is in charge of arrangements.
