Charlie Gibson

Charlie B. Gibson, age 77 of Clarkesville, passed away Friday, September 23, 2011, at a private healthcare facility. Born in Rabun County on March 13, 1934, he was the son of the late Robert W. and Donnie Nation Gibson. He was a retired lift operator with Hogans Lumber Yard and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Gibson was an avid trader. He was also a beloved brother who enjoyed spending time with his great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by four siblings. Survivors include sisters, Carolyn Martin of Clarkesville, Betty Winkler and Hazel Nation both of Demorest and Pearl Tomlin of Cornelia; brothers, Ernest Gibson of Demorest and Earl Gibson of Clarkesville; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Funeral services are 2:00 pm Saturday, September 24, 2011, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Brother James Southers officiating. Interment will follow in Fairfield Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 8 pm on Friday. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Lena McGahee, 170 Thomas St, Apt A, Cornelia, GA 30531.
