MRS. DALLAS TAYLOR COKER, age 91 of Demorest, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 04, 2012. Born in Stephens County, Georgia on February 28, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Johnny Presley and Essie Dodgins Taylor. Mrs. Coker was retired from Clarkesville Mill with over 14 years of service. Affectionately known as “Granny Coker”, she often enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, sharing many of her home grown foods from her garden with many folks in the community. She was also the oldest surviving member of the Fairfield Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Coker, sons, Jerry and Freddy Coker, brothers, Lawrence, Alfred, Gordon, William, Grover, and Charles Taylor; sisters, Thanie Tilley, Ruth Penley, Grace Walker, Lizzie Kelley, Florence Marsengill, Margie Deaton; and 2 infant siblings. Survivors include her children, Ellen and Roger Wilkes, Demorest, GA; Annette & David Eller, III, Clarkesville, GA; Leon and Norma Coker, Enterprise, Alabama; Martha Coker, Dahlonega, GA; sisters, Pernell Smith, Demorest, GA; Novia Pilgrim, Gastonia, NC; 12 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 07, 2012 at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Donnie Wilkes, Rev. Keith Allison, and the Rev. Anthony Shore officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairfield Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 until 5:00 p.m. and 7 until 9:00 p.m on Sunday.
