Doris Evelyn Arrowood Hewell

Doris Evelyn Arrowood Hewell, age 78 of Alto, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020. Born in Cleveland, Georgia on June 6, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Gart Arrowood and Mary Lou Hogan Arrowood. She retired from Fieldale Farms after many years of service. Mrs. Hewell was a loving caretaker and enjoyed sewing, flowers and collecting antiques. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Hubert Arrowood and Cecil Arrowood. Surviving are her son, Nelson Hewell, Jr. of Alto; daughter, Wanda Garmany of Alto; grandchildren, Danielle Cockrell of Gainesville, Joshua Garmany of El Paso, Texas, Kaley Thomason of Cornelia, Nikolai Hewell, Judge Hewell and Skylyn Hewell all of Douglasville, Jayden Hewell and Job Hewell both of Cornelia; great-grandchildren, Ansley Cockrell, Hadley Cockrell and Benton Cockrell; sisters, Pauline Shoemake of Gainesville, Frances Allen of Cornelia and Ruby Watson of South Carolina; several nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 5th, 2021, in the Arrowood family plot of Blue Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Jacob Armour officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm, prior to the service, at the funeral home. Those in attendance are asked to please adhere to the public health and social distancing guidelines regarding COVID-19.
