Douglas McGaha

Douglas Dale McGaha, age 77, of Cornelia, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2019. Born in Lawrenceville on March 5, 1942, he was the son of the late Jack McGaha and Virginia Bailey Anglin. Mr. McGaha served in the United States National Guard, worked in management for General Motors, and was a Mason for 54 years. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, his faith was strong, and his heart for God continually grew until the end. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 38 years, Helen Tench McGaha and brother, Roger McGaha. Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Jana and Jim Contardi of Atlanta and Jody and Jack Simmons of Marietta; stepdaughter and husband, Sandra Hogan Cochrane and Scott of Johns Creek; grandchildren: Noel Wallace, Sara-Meg Wallace, McGlaun Simmons, McCrae Simmons, Jack-Colton Simmons, Rachel Cochrane, Alex Cochrane, and Sarah Cochrane; brother, Kenneth Anglin of Lawrenceville; and sisters: Bobbie Downs of Bethlehem, Teresa Chadwick of Lawrenceville, Robin McDaniel of Auburn, Brenda Moulder of Monroe, and Glenda Dugger of Bethlehem. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 pm on Monday, November 11, 2019, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with Dr. Tom Jordan and Rev. Robert Nix officiating. Interment will follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the service hour on Monday at the funeral home.
