Edward Hugh “Boots” Hill, age 83, of Habersham Mills, Demorest, GA, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Born in the Habersham Mills Community of Habersham County, GA on October 20, 1927, he was the son of the late Jay Douglas Hill and Bertha Dixon Hill. Mr. Hill was a native and life long resident of Habersham Mills and was a veteran of the United States Navy having served his country during World War II. He was a member of Habersham Baptist Church where he served for many years as a deacon. He retired from Russell Corporation with 40 years service, attended Piedmont College and was a member of Woodman of the World Lodge # 143. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Reeves Hill. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Joyce Chitwood Hill of Demorest; daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and David Hunnicutt of Demorest; brother, Charles Hill of Demorest; sisters, Doris Ledbetter of Dahlonega, Lois Wall of Clarkesville, Carolyn Thompson of Clayton, Margaret Batson of Baldwin, Ruth Goss of Dahlonega, Peggy Burke of Clarkesville, Jan Barnette of Clarkesville; three grandchildren, Shayna Rene’, Lucas Isaiah, Micah Taran Hunnicutt, several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services are 3:00 pm Monday, May 16, 2011 at Habersham Baptist Church with Rev. Matt Thomas and Rev. Chris Chitwood officiating. Interment will follow in Habersham Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Habersham County American Legion Post #84, Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720 and the Rabun County DAV Chapter #15. Mr. Hill will lie-in-state at the church from 2 pm until the funeral hour on Monday. Deacons and Sunday School Class will serve as honorary escort and are asked to assemble at the church at 2:30 pm on Monday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Sunday. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request donations be made to the Habersham Cemetery Association, P. O.
