Edwin Andrews, age 77 of Baldwin, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Born in Banks County on December 27, 1937, he was a son of the late James Owen Andrews and Louise Cochran Andrews. Mr. Andrews was a retired correctional officer with the Georgia Department of Corrections where he served for 27 years. Mr. Andrews was a member of Level Grove Baptist Church and the Cornelia Masonic Lodge #92 F. & A.M. He also served his country proudly in the United States Navy. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and trading, especially cast iron skillets. He also owned and operated Stonepile Kennels where he raised Jack Russell Terriers. In addition to his parents, Mr. Andrews was preceded in death by his son-in-laws, Tony Shirley and Eddie Couch; sister and brother-in-law, Bobbie Jean Andrews Crump and Marvin Harold Crump. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia Allen Andrews of Baldwin; son and daughter-in-law, Jim & Chrysta Andrews of Mt. Airy; daughter, Kim Couch of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Bridget Shirley, Andrew Shirley, Alexas Andrews, and Bryce Andrews; great granddaughter, Brianna Ivester; aunt and uncle, Ruth & Claude Smith of Toccoa; special cousin, Janelle Darnell of Cornelia; also surviving are other family and friends. Memorial services are 3:00 pm Sunday, May 17, 2015, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Brian James officiating.
