Eleanor Grant

Alice Eleanor Jones Grant, age 83 of Marietta, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2013, at her residence. Born in Hall County on April 24, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Winfred Dathan and Elizabeth Rosina Morton Jones. Mrs. Grant was a graduate from the University of Georgia where she majored in distributive education. Upon, graduation she taught at Chicopee High School in Gainesville for two years until she met her husband, Richard Grant on a blind date. In her spare time, Mrs. Grant enjoyed playing golf, Bridge, reading, painting, cooking and gardening. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Richard R. Grant; daughter, Sarah Louise “Sally” Robertson; sister, Harriett Louise Bertrum. Surviving are daughter, Amanda Grant Parker of Marietta; daughters and sons-in-law, Alice & Dan McHugh, Beth & Mike Nugent all of Marietta, and Harriett & Charlie Williams of Mt. Airy; son-in-law, Dave Robertson of Grayson; grandchildren, Eleanor & Pierpaolo Cecot, Grant and Quinn Parker, Alice Ann & Brian Hermanson, Richard Robertson, Hogan and Jackson McHugh, Davin Melton, Kaitlyn, K. C., Libby, and Bradley Nugent, Matt & Nickey Williams and Michael Williams; great-grandchildren, Maddy and Chase Anderson, Karla Sanchez, Lane Tumlin, and Cole Williams. Funeral services are 2:00 pm Saturday, December 7, 2013, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart. Interment will follow in the Level Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 5-8 pm Friday.
