Elma Brown Obituary

Elma Dodd Brown, age 90 of Cornelia, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Born January 20, 1923, in Banks County, she was a daughter of the late Silas and Lonie Standridge Dodd. Mrs. Brown was a homemaker and attended Bible Landmark Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with family, friends, farming, cooking, and baking cakes. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brown was also preceded in death by her husband, Paschal Brown; son, Junior Brown; daughter, Silvia Mae Brown; son-in-law, Rev. Curtis Woods; grandchildren, Preston Sims and Haschal Brown; siblings, Lonzo Dodd, Vasco Dodd, Lela Bell Armour, Mammie Lewallen, Leroy Dodd, Thelma Wiley, Ruby Mae Smallwood, Edith Crocker, John B. Dodd, and Paul Dodd. Survivors include children and spouses, Sylvester (Cathy) Brown of Cornelia, Leon (Jo) Brown of Cornelia, LaVerne Brown of Cornelia, Barbara Woods of Baldwin, Lamar Brown of Demorest, and Dwight (Lynn) Brown of Demorest; sister, Dorothy Turner of Alto; 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter. Funeral services are 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Ronald Hooper, Rev. Leon Thompson, and Rev. Junior Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church cemetery with Rev. Bill Trotter officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-9 pm Sunday and from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Monday. The family will be at the residence of granddaughter, Sabrina Moore, 180 Walnut St, Cornelia, GA 30531. McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home of Cornelia (706/778-8668) is in charge of arrangements.
