Ethel B. Wiley, age 85 of Alto, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013, at her residence. Born on March 24, 1928, in Hall County, she was a daughter of the late Melvin and Bonnie Lynn Armour Thomas. Mrs. Wiley was a homemaker and member of Alto Congregational Holiness Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting, listening to gospel music, cooking, baking, but most of all spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sisters, Flornia Hulsey, Flonnie Cagle, and Bonnie Jean Thomas. Survivors include loving husband of 68 years, Luther Wiley of Alto; daughters and sons-in-law, Pat & John D. Flanagan and Lisa & Dennis Rogers all of Alto; son and daughter-in-law, Robert & Mary Wiley of Flowery Branch; sisters, Joyce Dorsey of Jefferson, Norma Grizzle of Williamston, SC, Geneva Parker of Pelzer, SC, Flossie Meaders of Gainesville; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services are 2:00 pm Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Scott Ledbetter and Rev. Leon Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 pm on Monday. McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home of Cornelia (706/778-8668) is in charge of arrangements.
