Flora Maney

Flora Tench Maney, age, 80, of Cornelia, went home to be with the Lord on November 29, 2011, after an extended illness. Flora was born on December 14, 1930 in Demorest, Georgia, to the late Rev. John B. Tench and Anna McConnell Tench. She married the late Clyde C. Maney in 1947 and was happily married for 62 years. She was from a loving musical family and loved singing praises to the Lord. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and attended Hillside Baptist Church and Double Springs Baptist Church for many years, where she sang in the choir with a beautiful soprano voice. She was a skilled seamstress and loved working in her flower gardens. She was also a wonderful cook who enjoyed cooking large meals for her family. In addition to her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Joan Maney; grandson, Frank Murray, Jr.; granddaughter, Zetta Poole; sisters, Christine Hughes, Hortense Loggins and infant sister, Margaret Tench; brother, Bryant Tench. Survivors include children, Geraldine and Frank, Sr. Murray, Randy and Janice Maney, Sandra and Richard Zimmerman, Cecil and Melinda Maney, and Debbie Lacey all of Cornelia, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Margie Tench of Rayle, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Charlotte and Ernest Underwood of Demorest; brother-in-law, Charles Hughes of Demorest ; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend but most of all a Child of God. She will be missed by all but Heaven has received a precious soul. Funeral services are 2:00 pm Friday, December 02, 2011, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Larry Ryals and Rev. Wesley Purcell officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 pm on Thursday.
