Frank McConnell

Frank James McConnell, age 86 of Mt. Airy, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013, at his residence. Born in Habersham County on February 03, 1927, he was a son of the late Paul, Sr. and Emma Cash McConnell. He was retired from Carwood Manufacturing with over 40 years of service and a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and gardening. In addition to his parents, Mr. McConnell was preceded in death by his son, Keith McConnell; brothers, Paul McConnell, Jr. and infant, Marvin McConnell; sister, Willie Mae McConnell. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Rebecca Ansley McConnell of Mt. Airy; son, Kim McConnell of Mt. Airy; daughters, Susie Thomas of Mt. Airy and Sherry Fortner of Cherokee, NC; brothers, Louie McConnell of Mt. Airy, William McConnell of Clarkesville, and Tom McConnell of Alto; sisters, Lois McConnell, Mable McAllister, Annie Loudermilk, Jean Underwood, all of Mt. Airy; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services are 4:00 pm Sunday, July 21, 2013, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Telford Tanksley, Rev. Jason Buchanan and Rev. Junior Abernathy officiating. Interment will follow in Camp Creek Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 am until the service hour. McGahee-Griffin & Stewart (706-778-8668) of Cornelia is in charge of arrangements.
