Harrison Norris Obituary

Harrison Norris, age 70 of Mt. Airy, passed away Monday, November 28, 2011, at his residence following an extended illness. Born in Habersham County on March 11, 1941, he was a son of the late Jackson and Ethel Green Norris. In addition to his parents, Mr. Norris was also preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Denise Norris and a brother, Jerry Norris. He retired as a supervisor, with 41 years of service, from Habersham Mills. He was of the Pentecostal faith and attended Free Chapel Worship Center. In his spare time, Mr. Norris enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Murphy Norris of the home, whom he married on December 22, 1961; daughter, Annette Norris of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Kelly Norris Parr and Otis; brother, Gary Norris of Kentucky; sisters, Joan Church of Clarkesville, Joyce Cathey of Bear Creek, North Carolina and Janice Harrison of Kentucky; grandson, Drake Chastain and wife Krystal and grandson, Kody Chastain; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services are 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with Ritchie Franklin officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Temple Congregational Holiness Church cemetery with Pastor Tim Beasley officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 & 6-9 pm on Tuesday.
