James Tyler

James Pearson Tyler, age 86 of Alto, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014, at his residence. Born in Rabun County on September 16, 1927, he was a son of the late Harve Tyler and Martha Smith Tyler. Mr. Tyler was a self-employed saw miler and a member of Alto Congregational Holiness Church. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Dalton Tyler; brothers, Raymond, Frank, and Cecil Tyler; sisters, Lizzie Moore, Lillian Watts, Fannie Mae Watts, Irene Whitfield, and Nancy Beasley; one grandchild and two great grandchildren. Surviving are daughters, Glenda Simmons of Banks County and Barbara Garrison of Alto; sons, James Loyd Tyler and Edward Lewis Tyler both of Alto; brother, Robert Tyler of Homer; sisters, Joann Varner of Pendenbero, SC, Catherine Davis of Eatonton, Clara Faye Woodall of Mountain City, Ruth Cruz of Kittrell, NC, and Virginia Taylor of Palm Harbor, FL; seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren. Funeral services are 1:00 pm Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Alto Congregational Holiness Church with Rev. Scott Ledbetter and Rev. Tim Beasley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 pm on Friday. An online guest register is available and may be viewed at www.mcgaheegriffinandstewart.com.
