John Butcher

Mr. John David Butcher, age 72 of Clarkesville, Georgia passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Born in Knoxville, Tennessee on July 12, 1940, he was a son of the late Brown & Clara Johnson Butcher. Mr. Butcher was a retired carpenter and lived here in Habersham County for over 40 years. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hiking, woodworking, making crafts & most of all, spending time with his family. Mr. Butcher was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth & Angela Butcher, Mt. Airy, GA; son and fiancé, Tracey Butcher & Renee Burton, Hollywood Community, Clarkesville, GA, and Robbie Butcher of Alto, GA; daughter, Lisa Hayes, Cornelia, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Samuel & Lisa Butcher, Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Krystal Martin, Stephanie Hayes, Ashley Hayes, Kenneth M. Butcher, Devin Butcher, Samuel Butcher, Kayla Butcher, Alicia Burton, Brandon Burton, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, & friends. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2012 from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Mitchell Luthi officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service on Wednesday. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the Circle of Hope, P.O. Box 833 Cornelia, Georgia 30531. McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home of Cornelia, Georgia (706) 778-8668 is in charge of arrangements.
