Lulah Savage

Lulah Jones Savage, age 91 of Mt. Airy, passed away Friday, May 17, 2013 at her residence. Born on July 31, 1921, in Franklin County, she was a daughter of the late Chester and Violet Byrd Jones. Mrs. Savage was a homemaker and a member of B.C. Grant Baptist Church. She was also a former nursing assistant with Stephens County Hospital. In her spare time, Mrs. Savage enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, crocheting and spending time with her family, especially her great-great granddaughter, Nora Peck. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Savage was also preceded in death by her husband, Otis Savage; son, Jerry Savage; brother, Kenneth Jones. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Jackie Tayler of Baldwin; son, J.B. Savage of Mt. Airy; daughter, Mary Jo LaLonde of Cornelia; 10 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; several step grandchildren, step great grandchildren and step great-great grandchildren. Funeral services are 2:00 pm Sunday, May 19, 2013, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Terry Rice and Rev. Daniel Parker officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8 pm on Saturday. An online guest register is available and may be viewed at www.mcgaheegriffinandstewart.com.
