Mabel Fry

Mabel Novella Ray Fry, age 93 of Clarkesville, GA, passed away Saturday, May 07, 2011, at Habersham County Medical Center. Born in Cumberland County, NC on January 30, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Mittie Victoria Grimes Ray and John Gregor Ray.Mrs. Fry was a member of Nacoochee Presbyterian Church.Mrs. Fry and her daughter Rhea restored and operated the Charm House Dining Inn and Bed and Breakfast in Clarkesville from 1976 until 1991. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Fry was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Freeman Fry; three sisters, Flora Kate Azzarona, Mary Janet Bun, Rachel Elizabeth McFeeley, brother, Gilbert Ray, grandson, Clay Turner. Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law,Rhea Scribner of Cornelia, Francesca and Kenneth Franklin of Turnerville, GA, Shirley and Nate Marple of Mt. Airy, GA, Gail and Bill Knecht of Kennesaw, GA, and Jewell and Ronnie Hutto of Lawrenceville, GA; sons and a daughters-in-law, Jim and Linda Turner of Fairfax Station, VA, and Phillip Barber of Clarkesville, GA; David and Jeannie Fry of Loganville, GA and Joe Fry of Clarkesville, GA; sister, Nancy Fromme of Eugene OR; 24 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8:30 pm on Monday. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 pm on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Bob Prim, Rev. Joy Pruitt and Dr. Kenneth Franklin officiating.Interment will follow in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery with a release of white doves.An online guest register is available and may be viewed at www.mcgaheegriffinandstewart.com.
