Martha Jane Flanagan, age 96 of Cornelia, passed away Friday, March 22, 2013, at Habersham Medical Center. Born November 11, 1916, in Habersham County, she was the daughter of the late William and Lenoria Pauline Greemon Erwin. Mrs. Flanagan was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and was retired from Carwood Manufacturing. She was very loved by her children, grandchildren, friends and extended family and enjoyed spending time with everyone. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Flanagan was also preceded in death by her husband, John Vance Flanagan, Sr.; daughters, JoAnn and Audrey Flanagan; sons, Leroy, John Vance, Jr., Woodrow and Carl Flanagan. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Rosalee and Curtis Savage of Alto; sons and daughters-in-law, John D. and Pat Flanagan of Alto and Guy and Geraldine Flanagan of Woodruff, SC; son, Jackie Flanagan of Cornelia; 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Funeral services are 4:00 pm Sunday, March 24, 2013, at The Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home Rev. George Dean and Rev. Scott Ledbetter officiating. Interment will follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-9 pm Saturday.
