Mary Edna Maney Chandler

Mary Edna Maney Chandler, age 89 of Alto, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Habersham Medical Center. Born in Banks County on November 19, 1923, she was a daughter of the late William McKinley and Pauline Chambers Maney. Mrs. Chandler was retired from Fieldale and was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking and gardening. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Odell Chandler; sister, Ernestine Blackburn Vandiver; brothers, Coil, Bob, Edgar, Tommy, and J. C. Maney. Surviving are son and daughter-in-law, Charles W. & Vancine Chandler of Cornelia; sister, Frances Ellen Chambers of the Hollingsworth Community; grandchildren, Charlene Anderson, Cheree (Tim) Charles, and Lana (Shane) Jones; seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services are 11:00 am Saturday, May 25, 2013, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Brian James and Rev. David Moody officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8 pm on Friday. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice. An online guest register is available and may be viewed at www.mcgaheegriffinandstewart.com.
