Mary Willow Chambers Hood age 94 of Demorest, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2012, at The Oaks at Scenic View. Born in Habersham County on March 7, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Tom and Nora McEntire Chambers. Mrs. Hood was employed by Scovill and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Lester Hood, a son Leon Hood, a brother Haskel Chambers, sisters Nella Holcomb, Carolyn Crane and Marie Dillard. Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Mary Frances and Bill Jarrard of Clarkesville, son and daughter-in-law Tommy and Stephanie Hood of Stockbridge, GA, brother and sister-in-law Orem and Jessie Lou Chambers of Cleveland, GA, sisters Ruth Fortenberry of Demorest, Evelyn Wilson of N.C. and Blanche Carpenter of North Augusta, SC. five grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services are 2:00 pm Monday, November 12, 2012, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Verner London, Rev. Chris York and Rev. Dave Fortner officiating. Interment will follow in Chattahoochee Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4-6 pm on Sunday and 12 -2 pm on Monday.
