Elaine Parker “Miss Elaine” Gilbert, age 58 of Lula, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2010, at her residence. Born in Banks County on February 10, 1952, she was the daughter of Dorothy Brady Parker of the Hollingsworth Community and the late Julius “J.R.” Parker. Mrs. Gilbert was a dedicated member of Wahoo Baptist Church. She had previously served as a Sunday school teacher. She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, crafts and antiques. Mrs. Gilbert was a devoted and loving wife, mother, daughter, “Nanny” and sister. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Allard Parker. In addition to her mother, surviving are husband of 40 years, Ronnie Lee Gilbert of Lula; daughter and son-in-law, Shannon & Jason Dyer of Lula; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald & Amber Gilbert of Lula; sisters, Estelle Carter of Gainesville, Betty Hart of Carnesville and Charlotte Hansard of the Hollingsworth Community; brothers, George Parker of the Hollingsworth Community and Rev. Michael Parker of Baldwin; grandchildren, Dawson Dyer, Emma Dyer, Raegan Gilbert and Cate Elaine Gilbert. Funeral services are 11:00 am Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Pastor Robbie Ledford and Pastor Mark Stroud officiating. Interment will follow in the Wahoo Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-9 pm on Monday. Flowers are accepted or donations maybe made to Wahoo Baptist Church, 9365 Hwy 52 E, Murrayville, GA 30564, to later be distributed to AWANA and Gideon’s International in memory of Miss Elaine.
