Milton R. Banks Obituary

Milton R. Banks, age 92 of Demorest, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2016. Born in White County, Georgia on May 1, 1923, he was a son of the late William Richard and Zadie Mae Shelnut Banks. Mr. Banks was retired from WABCO with over 30 years of service. He was the oldest male member of Fairfield Baptist Church who enjoyed working mules. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Sue Dyer; brother, Randall Banks; great grandson, Matthew Wheeler. Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Pearl Smith Banks of Demorest; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Elaine Banks of Clarkesville; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Jeff Stephens of Alto and Janelle and Randall Elsberry of Cave Spring, Georgia; brothers and sisters-in-law, Otis and Linda Banks of Lucasville, Ohio, Elmer and Dot Banks of Cleveland, Homer and Carolyn Banks of Clarkesville, Tilford and Iva Lee Banks of Demorest, Vermon and Ruth Banks of Demorest and Carven and Annette Banks of Demorest; sister, Colleen Hudson of Social Circle, Georgia; seven grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services are 3 pm Saturday, March 26, 2016, Fairfield Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Allison officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Friday at the funeral home. An online guest register is available and may be viewed at www.mcgaheegriffinandstewart.com.
