Pastor Paul Morris Obituary

Pastor Paul Watson Morris, age 68 of Alto, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 29, 2012, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Born in Banks County, on November 08, 1943, he was the son of the late John and Cona Bell Blalock Morris. Pastor Morris was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church on Pea Ridge and was retired from Lee Arrendale Correctional Institute with 20 years of service. Since being called to preach in the early 1970’s, he pastored numerous churches in the North Georgia area, including, Belton Baptist in Lula, Sugar Hill Baptist, Northside Baptist, Enon Baptist and Pleasant Hill Baptist for 16 years. On May 25, 1991, Pastor Morris received his Master in Theology degree. He was also a member of Lula Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed reading (especially westerns), handy work, painting, crossword puzzles, and above all fellowshipping with others and meeting people. In addition to his parents, Pastor Morris was also preceded in death by two sisters, Corinthia Jean Morris and Wanda Paciorek. Survivors include wife of 44 years, Louise Armour Morris of Alto, whom he married on December 29, 1967; daughter, Connie Morris of Alto; daughter and son-in-law, Becki Morris Thomas and Gary of Alto; sisters, Judy, Sandra, and Donna Morris all of Spartanburg, SC; two grandchildren, Ricci and Kristofer Thomas; numerous nieces, nephews, including Anita, Jeremy, Leigh, Chad, Jennifer and other family members, and friends also survive. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Greg Purcell, Rev. Lloyd Martin, and Rev. Lloyd Free officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion UMC cemetery with Rev. Kevin Shockley officiating and full military honors provided by the Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720, the Rabun County DAV Chapter #15, and the Habersham County American Legion Post #84. All local pastors are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 4-8 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to Mt.
