Perry Ray Shelnutt, Sr., age 68 of Demorest, GA, passed away Thursday, November 04, 2010, at NortheastGeorgiaMedicalCenter following a brief illness. Born in HabershamCounty, on January 11, 1942 he was the son of the late William Herbert and Susie Mote Shelnutt. Mr. Shelnutt was a self-employed residential contractor. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed working, hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by sisters, Elizabeth Belotte, Carolyn Shelnutt and Doris Velasco; brothers, Junior Shelnutt and Lewis Gene Shelnutt. Surviving are son & daughter-in-law, Perry & Lisa Shelnutt of Gainesville; granddaughter, Alexa Shelnutt of Gwinnett; niece, Leyla Belotte of Lula. Funeral services are 4:00 pm Sunday, November 07, 2010, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Roy Lee Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in CampCreekBaptistChurchCemetery.
