Phil Batson, Jr. PhD, age 54, of Tarpon Springs, FL passed away Friday, September 23, 2011. Born in Habersham County on August 24, 1957, he was the son of Phillip Eugene, Sr. and Evelyn Loudermilk Batson. He was preceded in death by a sister, Vicky Batson Hicks. Mr. Batson was a member of Good News Baptist Church and was a psychologist with Consult Care, Inc. He was an avid baseball fan and Georgia Bulldogs fan who enjoyed crossword puzzles and sodoku. Survivors include son, Zachary Batson; daughter, Nadia Batson; parents Rev. Gene and Evelyn Loudermilk Batson of Cleveland; sister, Cecilia Batson Rosenkrans of Toccoa; nephews, Brandon Hicks, Heath Hicks, Jared Hicks and Timmy Neese; nieces, Allyson Jones and Mary Evelyn Silvia; great niece, Emilee Jones; great nephew, Chase Hicks. Funeral services are 11:00 am Friday, September 30, 2011 at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Rev. Chris York and Donald Kimbrell officiating. Interment will follow in Good News Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 -9 pm on Thursday.
