Pretchel Pitts Obituary

Pretchel Brady Pitts, age 90 of Mt. Airy, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2012. Born in Banks County, Georgia on January 01, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Will and Nancy Rice Brady. Mrs. Pitts was a retired seamstress and member of Welcome Home Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, making quilts and clothes and also cooking. She was affectionately known as “Lillie Mae,” “Pat” and “Granny Pitts” to her family and friends. Mrs. Pitts was very family oriented having enjoyed spending time especially with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, F. Lewis Pitts, Sr.; brothers, Boyce, Owen, Othor and Boyd Brady and sisters, Violet Westbrook, Mary Hayes, Florene Thomas and Ola Ausburn; she was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are son, F. Lewis Pitts, Jr. of Canton, NC; son and daughter-in-law, Joe A. & Carla Pitts of Mt. Airy; daughter and son-in-law, Helen & Grady Allen of Mt. Airy; eight grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Funeral services are 2:00 pm Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at Welcome Home Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Ryals officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Monday. McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home of Cornelia (706/778-8668) is in charge of arrangements.
