Ralph James York

Ralph James York, age 85 of Mt. Airy, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Habersham Medical Center. Born on December 25, 1928 in Demorest, Georgia, he was a son of the late Henry Tatum and Lou Ethel Landers York. Mr. York was a member of B.C. Grant Baptist Church and was retired from Carwood Manufacturing. He enjoyed Sunday School and going to antique car shows. In addition to his parents, Mr. York was also preceded in death by brothers, Albert and Luther York; sisters, Mildred Burelson, Lorraine Clark, Bessie Mize, Martha Clark and Ruth Shedd. Survivors include wife of 67 years, Annie Bell Zimmerman York of Mt. Airy; sons and daughters-in-law, Edward and Velvet York of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Michael and Ann-Denise York of Cornelia; grandchildren, Lynn Hatton (Karl) of Paducah, Kentucky, Christie Dunlap (Billy) of Rock Island, Tennessee, Amy Gosnell (Randy) of Mt. Airy, Timothy York of Murfreesboro, Sean York (Christina) of Mt. Airy, Haley Evans (Samuel) of Murfreesboro, Katie Scott (Jacob) of Murfreesboro; 16 great grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Jimmie and Dennis Earl Colbert of Alto. Funeral services are 3 pm Sunday, November 16, 2014 at the Chapel of McGahee- Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Daniel Parker officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm until the service hour on Sunday at the funeral home. An online guest register is available and may be viewed at www.mcgaheegriffinandstewart.com.
