RAYMOND HOLBROOKS, age 81 of Baldwin, Georgia passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness. Born in Toccoa, Georgia on April 01, 1934, he was a son of the late Alex Andrew, Sr. and Minnie Gertrude Ayers Holbrooks. Mr. Holbrooks was a veteran and served his country proudly in the United States Army. He worked with Carwood Manufacturing for over 45 years and retired from KenBar Manufacturing with several years of service. Mr. Holbrooks loved hunting, fishing, gardening, but most of all helping others in need. Raymond was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, & great-grandfather. He was a member of the Leatherwood Baptist Church for over 60 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ruby Holbrooks Stamey; brothers, William Holbrooks, Winford Holbrooks, & Andrew Holbrooks, Jr. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Evelyn Reems Holbrooks, son and daughter-in-law, James “Douglas” & Sheila Holbrooks all of Baldwin, GA; brother, Billy Holbrooks; sister, Mary Ruth Holbrooks Stephens, both of Demorest, GA; sisters-in-law, Ellene Holbrooks, Louise Holbrooks, Frances Holbrooks, all of Mt. Airy, GA; 4 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, & friends. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2015 from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with Dr. Kenneth Franklin and the Rev. Tim House officiating. Interment will follow in the Leatherwood Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720, the Habersham County American Legion Post #84, the Rabun County DAV Chapter #15 and the Georgia National Guard.. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Monday.
