Regina Cantrell Underwood, 63, of Hillard Drive, Clyde, NC passed away Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. Mrs. Underwood was born Nov. 6, 1948, in Clarkesville, Georgia, to the late Claude Cantrell and Blanche Wilson Cantrell. She had resided most of her life in Haywood County and was a homemaker. Mrs. Underwood was a member of Rocky Face Baptist Church. She enjoyed going to yard sales and she also loved to go camping with her family. Regina was blessed with a kind and giving spirit, and was truly like a grandmother to her nieces and nephews whom she took care of and loved deeply. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother and her memory shall remain with each of us forever. Surviving are her husband of 43 years, Ted Underwood; her daughter, Jill Suzanne Scruggs, and her husband, Aaron Scruggs, of Canton; a grandson, Clayton Scruggs, of Canton; sisters, Darlene Demore, and her husband, Donald Demore, of Macon, Georgia, Juanelle Dietz, and her husband, James Dietz, of Clyde, and Rita Martin, and her husband, Larry Martin ,of Vienna, West Virginia; brothers, Kenneth Cantrell, and his wife, Ruth Cantrell, of Cornelia, Georgia, Rondald Cantrell, and his wife, Jean Cantrell, of Cleveland, Georgia, Charlie Cantrell and his wife, Brenda Cantrell, of Demorest, Georgia, and Lanny Cantrell, and his wife, Linda Cantrell, of Cornelia, Georgia; and 15 nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home with the Rev. Donnie Henson officiating. Burial will be in Crawford / Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday.
