Rev. Corbin Coley

Rev. Corbin Perzin “Cobb” Coley, age 88 of Alto, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013. Born in Habersham County on June 15, 1924, he was a son of the late Charlie and Ola Cook Coley. Rev. Coley was a Baptist minister having pastored numerous churches in this area including, Unity Baptist Church, Sunset Memorial Baptist Church, Shirley Grove Baptist Church, Crossroads Baptist Church and Calvary’s Cross Baptist Church where he was a member. He was also a U.S. Navy WWII veteran. In addition to his parents, Rev. Coley was also preceded in death by a son, Charles Everett Coley; brothers, Edison Coley, Haskell Coley and Albert Coley; sisters, Hazel Jones and Ruth Shore. Survivors include his loving wife, whom he married on August 16, 1941, Edna Matheson Coley of Alto; daughters, Beverly C. Holcomb of Baldwin and Gwen C. Ivester of Alto; sons, Melvin Coley of Cornelia and Reggie Coley of Clarkesville; eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. Funeral services are11:00 am Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Garry Garrison and Rev. Jerry Orr officiating. Interment will follow in B. C. Grant Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Monday. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to Gideon’s International, P.O. Box 195, Baldwin, GA 30511. An online guest register is available and may be viewed at www.mcgaheegriffinandstewart.com.
