Richard Davis

Richard Marley Davis age 63, of Baldwin, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2011 at the V. A. Medical Center. Born in Fulton County, GA on May 01, 1948, he was the son of the late Lonnie Thomas Davis, Sr., and Mary Ethelyn Cook Davis. Mr. Davis faithfully served his country in the United States Marines Corps during the Vietnam War.He retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation and was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Toccoa, GA. In addition to his parents, Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his brother, Lonnie Davis, Jr. Survivors include son, Nicholas Davis of Helen, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Chad Greenway of Gainesville, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Keith Anderson, of College Park, GA; sister-in-law, Linda Davis of Pinehurst, GA; aunt, Betty Ballew of Clarkesville, GA; grandchildren, Skylar Davis, Wyatt Davis, Carter Greenway and Parker Greenway; two nieces, three nephews and several cousins also survive. Funeral services are 2:00 pm Sunday, May 15, 2011 at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Rev. Stacy Penland and Rev. Scott Westmoreland officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the American Legion Post #127. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-9 pm on Saturday. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
