Ruth Benalee Scroggs, age 73, of Cornelia,passed away Sunday March 13, 2011 and her husbandLewis Albert Scroggs, age 76, of Cornelia,passed away Tuesday March 15, 2011. Both died at home peacefully following brief illness’s. Mrs. Scroggs was born in Virginia, a daughter of the late Avery Davis and Bessie Hardin Davis of Gastonia NC., and was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Davis. Mr. Scroggs was born in Habersham County the son of the late Virgil and Hattie Martin Scroggs, and was preceded in death by a sister, Sandy Nations. They were preceded in death by their son, Michael Scroggs and grandson, Michael Nations. They are survived by daughters, Teresa Scroggs McEntire of Demorest, Pamela Robbins and son-in-law Ervin Robbins of Blacksburg SC; Ruth is also survived by a sister, Dorothy Price of Dallas, NC, two brothers, Mickey Davis of Blacksburg, SC and David Davis of Gastonia, NC.Lewis is also survived by a sister, Omie Robbins of Gastonia, NC and a brother, Bobby Scroggs of Mt. Airy, GA. grandchildren, Tonia McCallister, Steven Sisk, Christopher Sisk, Angela Dale, Matthew Sisk, 19 great grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. Viewing will be from 4-9 pm on Wednesday, March 16th and 9 am – 9 pm on Thursday March 17th. Joint funeral services will be held at the McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home Chapel on Friday March 18th at 4 pm with Rev. Dennis Taylor officiating.
