Valerie Lathan Galloway, age 74 of Mt. Airy, passed away Saturday, February 16, 2013, at her residence. Born in Habersham County on June 29, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Dawson and Dorothy Cash Lathan. Ms. Galloway was a machine operator and housekeeper having worked at Carwood Manufacturing and Global Tech. She was a member of Hazel Creek Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Ms. Galloway was also preceded in death by her brother, Carl W. Lathan, brothers-in-law, Eugene Allen and James Gosnell. Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Gail & Larry Loggins of Demorest and Joyce & David Abbott of Alto; daughter, Brenda Galloway of Mt. Airy; son and daughter-in-law, Mack & Missy Galloway of Demorest; son, Donald Galloway, Jr.; sisters, Louise Allen of Mt. Airy and Betty Gosnell of Cornelia; brothers, E. J. Lathan of Mt. Airy; 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services are 3:00 pm Monday, February 18, 2013, at Hazel Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Austin Kelley, Rev. Billy Burrell and Mr. Chad Parham officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3-5 & 7-9 pm Sunday.
