Willene Mote Nix, age 87 of Cornelia, passed away Tuesday, February 07, 2012 at her residence. Born on January 18, 1925 in Habersham County, she was a daughter of the late Odus and Fannie Tomlin Mote. Mrs. Nix was a member of Baldwin Congregational Holiness Church and was a homemaker. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, quilting, drawing, painting, reading, crossword puzzles, going to church and singing. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Nix was also preceded in death by her husband, J. B. Nix; daughter, Dolly Michelle Nix; sons, Earnest “Junior” Nix and David Nix; brother, Lee Odus Mote; grandson, Earnest Lancer Nix. Survivors include daughter, Winnie Armour of Cornelia; brothers, General Wofford Mote of Baldwin and Avery Mote of Alto; sisters, Adeline Williams of Colorado and Joyce Norton of Mt. Airy; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Thursday, February 09, 2012 at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Rev. Sandford Kimbrell officiating. Interment will follow in the Nix Family Cemetery with Rev. Matthew Mote officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 & 6-9 pm on Wednesday.
