William Erskine "Bill" Smith, Jr. Obituary

William Erskine “Bill” Smith, Jr., age 74, of Alto, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2015. Born on June 17, 1940, in Walton County, Georgia, he was the son of the late William Erskine, Sr. and Lois Jane Gibson Smith. Mr. Smith was a retired trucker with Ryder Trucking Company and was of the Baptist faith. He was an avid gunsmith with Bullseye in Lawrenceville. In addition to working on guns, Mr. Smith also enjoyed working Suduko puzzles and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Ann Grice Smith. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Beth Smith Galloway and Stace Galloway of Alto and P.J. Smith Hattaway and Eric Hattaway of Homer; grandchildren, Nate and Will Galloway both of Alto and Samuel Hattaway of Homer; several other relatives and friends. Funeral services are 1 pm on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Shane Roberson officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home. An online guest register is available and may be viewed at www.mcgaheegriffinandstewart.com.
