Blanche Grogan Robinson, 96, of Oakwood passed away Sunday August 6, 2017 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Braselton following a period of declining health. Born February 10, 1921 in Dawson County to the late Hiram L. and Maude B. Grogan, she had lived in Hall County since 1971. Mrs. Robinson was a 1938 graduate of Dawson County High school where she was a member of the basketball team. During WW II she worked at the Bell Bomber Plant in Marietta, she worked with the Dawson County School System for a number of years as a substitute teacher and worked at Shirley’s ladies clothing store in Gainesville for over 25 years until its closing in 1999. Blanche was an active and faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Dawsonville for almost 80 years and was a member of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Robinson was also preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Dr. Herbert W. Robinson and a sister, Buell Pirkle. Surviving are her sons and daughter in law, Daryl and Elaine Robinson, Roswell, Rodney Robinson, Gainesville; grandchildren, Reid and Caroline Robinson, New York, Erin Robinson, Atlanta; nieces, Judy Adams, Marsha Robinson, Sharon Fausett; and a nephew, Gary Robinson. Funeral services will be held Thursday August 10, 2017 at 2 o’clock at the First Baptist Church of Dawsonville. Dr. Jim Gaines will officiate. Interment will follow in Dawsonville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 3 until 8 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
