C. Lee Shaw

C. Lee Shaw, 89, of Dawsonville passed away Tuesday March 3, 2015 at Embracing Hospice following a period of declining health. Born May 9, 1925 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Walter and Marie Shaw, he had lived in Dawson County for the past 10 years having moved from Amelia Island, GA. Mr. Shaw earned a degree in mechanical engineering from Georgia Tech and owned and operated Specialized Aggregates for over 20 years until his retirement. He was a former vice president of Georgia Marble and was a U. S. Navy veteran of WW II. A member of Grace Presbyterian Church, he enjoyed tennis, golf, antique cars and working with his hands. He was also preceded in death by a previous wife, Mary Shaw. Surviving are his wife, Martha Kay Shaw, Dawsonville; children, David Shaw and Sally Kinnaird, Midway, KY, Thomas Lee and Judy Shaw, Dawsonville, Mary Lee and Troy Brawley, Conyers, James Andrew and Mary Shaw, Benicia, CA; sister, Margaret Starr, Laurel, DE; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren; his former wife and mother of his children, Rosemary Shaw, Conyers; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Funeral services will be held Friday March 6, 2015 at 2 o’clock at Grace Presbyterian Church with the remains placed in state at 1 o’clock. Rev. David Jordan will officiate. Interment will be held at Georgia National Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends Thursday from 4 until 8 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Good Shepherd Clinic, 452 Highway 53 East, Suite 1009, Dawsonville, GA 30534 or to Embracing Hospice, 8013 Majors Road, Cumming, GA 30041.
