Carl Edward Davis, 86, of Dawsonville passed away Friday November 2, 2012 at his residence following an extended illness. Born December 29, 1925 in Hagerstown, MD to the late Roy and Zola Davis, he had been a resident of Dawsonville since 1996. Serving from 1944 – 1946 during World War II, he was a United States Marine Corps veteran, 5th Marines, 24th Infantry, Casual Company on Iwo Jima. He retired in 1992 from Lockheed where he worked for over 30 years as an Aircraft Engineer. Mr. Davis was a member of McKees Chapel United Methodist Church and Etowah Lodge #222 F & AM. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Betty Jane Davis; brothers, Roger, Wilbur, Leonard, and Dan Davis. Surviving are his son, Douglas S. Davis, Dawsonville; granddaughters, Alicia Davis, Dawsonville, Krista Davis, Dawsonville, Danielle Davis, Dawsonville; brother, Roy E. Davis, Hagerstown, MD; sisters and brothers in law, Frieda Nunamaker, Hagerstown, MD, June and Paul Andrews, Hagerstown, MD, Mary and Frank Malott, Williamsport, MD; 6 great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Thursday November 8, 2012 at 1 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Sven Mossinger will officiate. Interment will follow at McKees Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 until 8 at the funeral home.
