Catherine “Cat” Mickle, 99, of Dawsonville passed away Tuesday February 28, 2012 at Dogwood Forest following a period of declining health. Born January 19, 1913 in Good Hope, Georgia to the late Alonzo and Leila Malcolm, she had lived in Dawson County for the past 15 years having moved from Atlanta. A homemaker at her death, she had been formerly employed by Newberrys and K-Mart in Atlanta. Her primary interest in life was helping care for her beloved family. Mrs. Mickle was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves. After moving to Dawson County, she volunteered at Ric-Rak for four years. She was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church and was also preceded in death by her husband, Reid Mickle. Surviving are her great niece and caregiver, Edwina McMahan, Dawsonville; nephews, Carlton Malcolm, Atlanta, Ronald Malcolm, Newnan; great niece, Clella Albert, California; great nephew, Milton Bruce, Dawsonville; and a number of other relatives. Funeral services will be held Friday March 2, 2012 at 1 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Emory Brackman and Rev. Richard McMahan will officiate. Interment will follow in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
